Year 3 Discover the World of Shapes

Last week, Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic week of learning all about shape. The children explored a range of 2D shapes using geometric paper, as well as geoboards and elastic bands to create their own designs.
They had great fun making shapes with different numbers of sides and were excited to learn the names of each one. One particularly curious moment came when a pupil created a 17 sided shape. Together, the class discovered that this is called a heptadecagon.
It was a wonderful week of hands on learning, curiosity and enthusiasm, with pupils developing both their mathematical understanding and their confidence in using new vocabulary.
