Year 4 Explores How Water Moves

To launch their new geography topic on rivers and the water cycle, Year 4 spent time investigating what happens when water is poured onto different surfaces. The children closely observed how water naturally flows downhill and how it soaks into soil.
Through simple but effective hands-on tests, pupils were able to see the difference between surfaces that allow water to infiltrate and those that cause it to run off. This practical activity helped them build a strong early understanding of how water behaves in the natural environment.
Year 4 showed great curiosity and teamwork as they explored the first steps of their new learning journey.
